Good news, everybody!

I am in Tokyo-Haneda International Airport, Terminal 3.  I checked 3 bags, one if which is overweight.  I had to do the self check-in, as that is what Delta has here.  I had 3 baggage tags print, put them on, then took them to the security drop off.
Apparently, I am a priority passenger.  I asked the woman helping me where I am supposed to pay.  I'm expecting her to say ¥40,000 here, please.  Instead...

"You are not being charged for the baggage, Mr. Vannette.  You are a priority customer.  The machine would not print your labels otherwise."

So, here I am.  It might be that I spent the money to upgrade my seat from basic economy class to business (not first).  It was less than $200 and I figured the space on the long flight would be worth it.  But, the ticket upgrade is only half what I expected to pay in baggage fees.
Now to find a meal.
